What about having a do it yourself hand driven shallow 50 ft. well for the garden. You shouldn't drink the water that's shallow but it might be ok for the garden. That would save your other water for cabin.

WOW! That is flippen awesome. It looks like MRCOOL thought of everything from a tool kit to finishing touches over piping. Since we run 50 % of our cabin on solar (4.8kWh), I will be interested in the the drain on your system. Cool and heat. In April/Oct we run a propane heater to take the chill off vs. the woodstove. This might be a better option. Thanks for taking this project on. You two rock. 73 & God Bless. JohnyMac

It takes a few minutes to get heat going; AC comes on faster. Build a snow shield over the outdoor unit. It doesn’t work with snow blowing into or blocking the unit.

I have a offgrid cabin in central NY and was going to buy some type of vented propane heater for secondary heat..there expensive and take up alot of wall space. I may do a heat pump just like this seeing how little the draw. One benefit that you dont talk about is going to be removing humidity.

If you are counting on solar panels to charge your batteries or solar generators during thebwinter, it won't work. The best thing to do is use your generator to recharge your solar generators and then shut it down!

A quick observation with your a/c install. Make sure the foam sealant didn’t crush the drain hose. If it did, the drain water will back up into the cabin. I know this from experience. Great show by the way. Keep it up.

I am wanting to avoid the need to pump water to a header tank high in my build but to rely on gravity. My question is would any filter downstream from the IBC (like your pool filter) cause loss of pressure beyond the filter removing any benefits from harvesting at height? Many thanks
